Great to see so much enthusiasm in the encouraging range and quality of work at these awards. Passion is still alive and well amongst the current student body.
The awards were another good chance for me to gather a range of opinions on current issues. Many of which have been rehearsed in other posts.However a different perspective was given by Lance from Direct Photographic.
Direct is a major sponsor of these awards and Lance was able to come at these issues from the viewpoint of his experience of trying to meet the sometimes unrealistic needs of photographers.
We discussed the importance of his area of expertise in complementing the often limited knowledge of some photographers when faced with substantial challenging projects. An impressive level of professionalism and service was cleary on offer and their insights would be of great value in opening the eyes of students to the challenges of the market and the quality of technical and logistic support available to them.
